Modules
This project involved the delivery of a modular secondary dwelling within a rural property near Cooma in regional New South Wales.
Designed as a compact, self-contained living space, the building was manufactured off-site and transported to site as a completed volumetric module. The modular approach allowed the majority of construction to occur within a controlled factory environment before installation, significantly reducing on-site construction time in a remote regional setting.
Located within a bushfire-prone landscape and an alpine climate, the design responds to both BAL requirements and seasonal snow conditions typical of the Snowy Monaro region. Material selection, roof form and detailing were carefully considered to ensure durability and resilience in a challenging environment.
Internally, the living space is organised around a wood-burning fireplace, providing a central point of warmth during the colder winter months. Large openings frame views of the surrounding rural landscape while maintaining a simple and restrained architectural form.
